She was taken to HKPS Koala Care and Rescue, where she was named Louise after the woman who found her.

The staff at HKPS believe that Louise fell from the tree while her mother was asleep, and was then unfortunately rejected by her.

Care and rescue coordinator Simone Aurino told Mashable Australia that the baby can not go back to her koala mum:

Once she is separated from mum, that’s it. She will be a hand raised joey. Once she is weaned she will be put into a kindergarden situation with other young koalas to learn to be a big girl koala.

We’re not crying. YOU’RE crying.

After initially being reluctant to accept food, she has started gaining weight and bonding with her foster mother, Sue.
